DA used to be a place to share GOOD art (e.g. anything drawn on lined paper, paper where the spiral binding was scanned in etc... was a "scrap" not a proper piece) and get comments on how to improve and develop. The community aspect was slightly more to the background, but it was well-formed and (mostly) supportive. Stunning art was the rule, not the exception.
DA nowadays seems to be a community of majority attention-seekers that post every doodle they've ever drawn, even if they did it on toilet paper. The "community" doesn't feel so friendly any more and trying to get comment on your work for those that are trying to prove is a lot more difficult. Stunning artwork is difficult to find any more.
I don't totally dislike the fact that the community side of things has become so big - it's nice to have all the different ways to interact - but I'd love for the site to refocus on art (it is called deviantART no deviantCOMMUNITY arter all...) and the QUALITY of art. Times used to be that if you saw something drawn on lined paper, you reported it as a miscat and it was moved to scraps.
I don't really know you can change that now though because DA has just got too big to have that kind of fundamental change without hiring a metric f*&!ton of gallery mods to sort everything out.
I choose all of them. I should admit that dA has changed my life. It is not a place to share art only but it is a place where I try to learn and develop myself in any art genre and communicate with other deviants.
I'd like dA to be more about developing your skill, what differ dA from other art sites is the ability to communicate which is higher. So it's easier to get comments but it were nicer if they were more "pro" comments like mini- critiques than "sweet cat" "owow i love digimon too" ect. not that anything wrong but I feel we have a chance to take it to the next level.
