Week 1, 2013 at #deviant365!

Tue Jan 1, 2013, 12:00 AM

Hello Everyone!

I would like to formally welcome each and every one of you to the official deviant365 group! We have a fantastic year ahead for all of you filled with events, contests, weekly tasks and perhaps most importantly, prizes! Every week we will be posting a task that hopes to get those creative juices flowing in your mind. Sometimes they will be simple, sometimes you might have to submit art, and sometimes they might be a week long task you partake in! But in every case, we hope to make them fun!

Happy New Year, and may these tasks lead you to your greatest endeavor!

This week the task is to answer this question: What are your goals, ambitions, or artistic endeavors for the upcoming year? Comment with your idea, and two deviants who do will win a devWEAR T-Shirt of their choice!

Plus, we want you to get some exposure! Submit something new you posted on deviantART to the new gallery category!

Good luck! The next task will come on Monday!

I love you,
you love me,
we're happy community
with the great big heart and a -
With the long NECK nuzzling me
'low maintenance' means you are a drama queen
you are fluffy and sweet!

My personal goals for this year are to complete my pre-animation and illustration course with a great portfolio, improve my art, get into the animation program for next year, and perhaps begin fleshing out some of my ideas for a graphic novel.

My goals this year are to improve my art skills and to stop procrastinating. :XD:

My goal/ambition is simple, I guess. First, get my son ready for school next year with his behavioral issues. Second, ultimate goal would be to get our own place. We're too stressed out here and really unhappy with our living arrangements. Artistic goal... I just bought a 10-pk of canvases. Maybe I will fill them ;D

-Publish my book. This editing process is ridiculously hard, but when I'm done, I can send it out.
-Finish writing my novel, Bounty.
-Get revenge on the kid who beat me in a dog show last year. He was my arch-nemesis before that, and then he beat me (one place ahead). I would have been okay with that. But then he threatened my dog. Not cool. I will have my revenge.
-Beat the boy who always wins the art awards in fair. He wins three categories every year, and always gets best in show. Jealousy? Heck yes. MaddyPama and I are going to win this year, though.
-Train the new rescue puppy. A new little dog to take to shows. He's not very well trained. I hope he can help me with that revenge thing...

After finishing the craziness of my first semester of college, I look forward to having more time this year to allow myself to grow as an artist all around! There are my goals and ambitions for 2013 (in no particular order). I hope to make the very best of this year!

-Continue to work on my photography skills and take a lot more pictures using manual settings and focus.
-Learn how to play a new instrument, either guitar or flute, or maybe both! (Music is art, too! :aww: )
-Contribute a lot more photos and videos to the stock community on deviantart.
-Create more stop motion animations.
-Complete a project I've been working on for a long time: a funny illustrated choose your own adventure story drawn in a simple notebook.
-Create some short musical compositions and improve my knowledge of music theory.
-Suggest as many daily deviations as possible and (hopefully) one that gets accepted!
-There is a story that has been floating around in my head for a while now...I really want to get it down on paper! I also want to write poetry more often.
-Continue planning the deviantART Online Band project that I started a brainstorm for over at #BandGeeks and hopefully make it a reality soon. Similar to the youtube orchestra, we want to take a composition and have musicians send in recordings and videos of them playing their parts, and combine everything together to create a virtual symphonic band.

Looks like I've got a lot on my plate for this year...and the list keeps getting longer! But my overall goal, one that encompasses everything else, is to be more optimistic and compassionate this year, and to practice a lot more random acts of kindness. Everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle, so my biggest goal is to make someone smile every day, and be an inspiration for others. To me, becoming a better artist is only a small step away from becoming a better person. Here is a quote that has become my strong guideline for 2013:

"Promise yourself to be so strong that nothing can disturb your peace of mind. To talk health, happiness and prosperity to every person you meet. To make all your friends feel that there is something in them. To look at the sunny side of everything and make your optimism come true. To think only of the best, to work only for the best and expect only the best. To be just as enthusiastic about the success of others as you are about your own. To forget the mistakes of the past and press on to the greater achievements of the future. To wear a cheerful countenance at all times and give every living creature you meet a smile. To give so much time to the improvement of yourself that you have no time to criticize others. To be too large for worry, too noble for anger, too strong for fear and too happy to permit the presence of trouble." - Christian D. Larson

My Goals for this year are simple but will make a big affect in the future for me.

1: I'm not a very good drawer so i made a plan for me to doddle when every something comes to my mind. I'll start having a sketch book where every i go so i can always jolt down ideas.

2: I have a lot of ideas for stories floating around in my mind but i never get them down so i can put them in my stories. I plan to get a memo pad, i have one on Google but i'm not on the computer 24/7 so i have to get one i can jolt down my thoughts when i'm out on the go since i'm going to be out more this year.

3: In September i'll be in high school but before i get there i have to past 8th grade so my main focuse will be to catch up on my studies and pass 8th this year so i don't have to take summer school and walk across the stage late.

This year, i'll be starting art at school as one of my senior school electives. My major goal is to come first in art because I know I can if I try my hardest and really do my best work.

Another goal I have is to improve my painting skills, particularly in acrylic. I want to be as comfortable and confident using acrylic as I am with using coloured pencil and watercolour. I also want to improve my skills in drawing faces and hands.

One of the major challenges that i've set for myself this year is to actively search for new oppurtunities and experiences. A couple of years ago I would avoid doing things because I thought they would make me self conscious or I was scared to fail. This year i'm going to actively seek out new things to try or experience, even if I know I may not be that good at them, or will fail miserably. I think i'll be an even more confident person for it :)

This year I want to really start giving my writing more priority again, since I kinda lost that a bit last year. I want to be more outgoing in all aspects of my life, including artistically. And I want to work more towards becoming the kind of person I admire.

This year I want to be more productive, more active at dA. I want to sketch more, draw more and improve both my traditional and digital art. Maybe try some new medium, watercolors. Try to finally get some copic markers. Pick up a couple of projects from last year. Look at more artworks and be inspired by them to try new things.

to improve my health a lot, to feature other deviants regularly at least a new feature every two weeks
(as long as my health allows me to be active) and to grow spiritually too, and lastly to start selling a bit
of my art, mustnt be much just a start somewhere here on dA or redbubble or elsewhere

Just to be happy and complete everything. It seems like as the years go by, I pay less and less attention to my poetry and photography. This year however, I want to focus more on my writing and my photography, and I hope I can achieve more than I did so in the past. I plan to become better than what I was before.

What are your goals, ambitions, or artistic endeavors for the upcoming year?

I have several goals I am working on for 2013. The first goal I am focusing on is one I have been focused on for awhile which is continuing to pursue my Doctorate in Psychology. I am currently in year 2 of 5 at University before I can complete my degree. :excited:

The next goal I am working on is featuring artists in a new way with my new project titled Artist 2 Artist or A2A. I do spotlight features of specific artists monthly. The selection of winners are based on suggestions I received from other artists within the community and are based on either improvement, community spirit, or overall quality of works. I award the winners with a journal feature, profile feature, favs, points, and more. I also encourage my own watchers and groups to add, feature, and fav the artist in hopes of promoting the artists' art further.

For my personal art... I plan to push myself harder this year and attempt techniques I previously had never tried. I also have been spending more time improving my traditional skills to enhance my digital skills. Ultimately, I would like to look back on 2013 and know my art improved in overall quality as well as technique.

After revisiting some of my old art in dusty sketchbooks and digging to the bottom of my gallery I found some interesting ideas that I wish I had developed more at the time. 2013 will be a year of looking at the old and making it new. Looking forward to it!

- I'm hoping to submit one big art piece to my gallery every month, with lots of little ones in-between.
- I'm also hoping to start up some contests and support ones going in the groups I'm a part of.^^

Happy new year!

Get back on dA! It's been too long...
So that involves paying my poor watchers and friends some well-deserved attention, checking out any new features (what is this username changing?!), go visit my darling groups (this included!), get inspired by art, and of course, upload upload upload! (I've been busy during my time off, and won't you know it soon.)

Here we go then, my first comment of 2013 and the beginning of fulfilling my resolution!

artistically, I wanna improve on my tablet and maybe go into drawing more realistic things instead of just manga-style.

My main goal for this year is to become more truthful in everything I do.
I'm not happy where I am right now, and most of it is because I've held back on the truth - or not said anything at all. I hope that speaking my mind will help me get through this darker patch.

Artistically, I hope to begin writing a story that has been in my thoughts for a while. To do this, I know I will have to improve my english skills [as they are not up to par]. I also would like to practice drawing digitally more - working especially on proportion and creation my own, unique style.

All of this of course on top of my second year of University!

My main, and most important, goal is to draw closer to God than ever before. I want to really live in His Presence and His goodness this year, making me capable to reach more people and to show love to more people. I also intend on bettering my drawing skills and my writing skills. It's going to be a busy year, but I intend on enjoying every step of the way.

My goals are to continue exploring new areas in photography. I used to photograph only a small area of subjects, but recently I've begun expanding and looking at new things. :) I wish to continue doing this, experimenting with new subjects and styles.

I'd also like to start getting into Pixel Art. I really like pixel art and want to one day be able to do great things with it. :D I have only done a little pixel art, and want to improve this year.

I aim to be semi-vegetarian this year, and make a zine (I have an idea, but it's not really fully-formed yet).

And of course, the usual self-improvement blah de blah. :D
SimplySilent Featured By Owner Jan 1, 2013
Most importantly, I plan to work harder at balancing school and art. dA and art provide a wonderful relief from the stress I face at school and in daily life, and so I often find that I neglect my schoolwork in favor of spending more time with art.

This year, I'll focus on working hard and improving my skills in both fields. :D

From purely an artistic point of view, I hope to delve deeper into digital painting, which I've done only a few times this past year. I want to become better at working with colors and composition, which are two skills I've struggled with in the past.

Overall, I'm looking forward to a successful new year~! :dummy:

I have three big goals this year, one in art, one in writing, and one in life:
Art: From feedback from my free requests my art has been called scribbles and I've been told that I didn't work hard on them. I thought that I did okay but other people didn't think so. I will be working hard this year to improve greatly, moving from simple head and shoulders drawing to full body drawings, with lots of detail. I also need to use pencils more often, pens are apparently 'unprofessional'. I'm very grateful for the feedback that I got because now I can start improving in the new year c:

Writing: I've had the idea to write a novel that I've been developing for about two years now, but I have yet to write down very much of it. I'm going to try to write as much as possible, shoot for at least an hour a day or or seven hours a week, to make sure that I'm at least writing. One thing I noticed is that I use very 'weak' words, I need to use harsher words, to sound sure of myself, but most just keep friggin writing XD

Life: My big goal in life this year is to find out what I want. I've been thinking about what it is I really and truly want and I can't seem to figure it out. But once I do, I can follow it and maybe find happiness, I don't want to be just content with my life, I want to be thankful and HAPPY

Lots of words there XD Well that's basically it, also with the same generic "Be healthier" and "Lose weight" and a few other small things

Artistic goals/endavors: well I just want to finish all my WIPS. ^^; And learn/try some new tools of artistic expression that I didnt tried yet. :) Till some point, in this, dA and other artists here are my motivation and inspiration in trying new things. :)

And Happy New Year. Lets hope it will be happy and calm for everyone.
