The dArt Showdown is a deviantART centered, team competition that will last the next number of weeks on deviantART. Hosted by `TimberClipse and `IceXDragon in conjunction with #DevNews it is likely the first major team competition on deviantART with thousands of points and other prizes up for grabs! 
`TimberClipse posted a few days ago suggestions for a project you would want to host, `IceXDragon came up with the idea of a Art Showdown. The two members then worked together in order to present a new and great contest.

All about the ARTRight now with everything that I am seeing, being an outsider to it all, everything feels soooo negative. I came to deviantART to escape that negativity, to just enjoy artwork and network with others about it  IE I stalked `loish to deviantART being such a fangirl for her work :B. So with all of what's happening I thought now would be a good time to ask you about what your favorite artworks are as I share with you mine. Who am I? That's a good question! I am 16, finishing up my junior year in high school and a lover of film and video. I have been on about 50 film sets in the last two years working on a different array of jobs from production assistant (PA) to key grip, gaffer, director of photography (DP), and editor. So what does it take to become a Senior? That's a question many have asked and have never really been able to get a straight answer on. As you wander around deviantART pages, there is noticeably one art medium that invades almost every element of the site. Whether it is the deviantART galleries, journals, news section, comments, forums, chatrooms, avatars or even dA profiles, it is hard to find a spot that hasn't been infiltrated by a familiar set of small, coloured, pixel circles. The art form I am talking about is of course the emoticon and throughout the past 10 or so years they have been happily adopted by deviantART and its community.
Although emoticons can often be spotted on a wide range of other instant messengers (IMs) and social media sites, deviantART has come to house a unique branch of these miniature art pieces. Whilst the majority of these alternative sites opt for simple, predominately yellow emotes with a range of basic expressions, the art community here at dA have stretched the art form far beyond its natural boundaries and developed entirely new styles of emoticons

I know that many deviants have had a rough past year. I know I have. For some, it was the economy, for some changes in their families and loved ones, and I know for some it has even been on deviantART. We have all had struggles, but this time of year, whether you celebrate Thanksgiving or not, is as good a time as any to thank people for what we DO have. 
In this world of little, we all have something we hold dear to our hearts. Now is the time to say thanks.

Unfortunately, in order for us to do the best job we could we had to give a little extra time for the judges. The next round will be delayed two days to compensate.

This journal says the due date for the shades theme is today on friday, but in the other journal, it says that it's due the third, on sunday. Which date is it? :confused:
