Complaint Challenge Contest Results!You guys are amazing! The quality of the entries was nothing short of impressive. I was pleasantly surprised with the number of deviants who took a serious and productive approach to tackling their complaints! Quite a few entries were teams working together to make deviantART a better place.
I had a bunch of really great entries, and I had a difficult time not featuring more like six of these. After some serious thought, I narrowed it down to two that I believe stood out from all the awesome (which is tough to do when everything is already wonderful).

May's contest aims to answer that question. Your challenge is to create a tutorial aimed at deviantART's new members that shows them as much of the site as possible. Think about when you were new - what areas of the site did you discover only after blundering around? What areas did someone else point out to you? What do you wish you had known as a new member that seems like common knowledge now?

PE: Daily Deviations - The Myth and the LegendDaily Deviations, or DDs . . . for some deviants, receiving one is the epitome of awesomesauce in the deviantART world. For others, they are a nice way to show off the work of lesser-known artists. Still others treat them as a special way to bring attention to great art that exemplifies works being done by a particular gallery or community.
Perhaps because there are so many different ways of conceptualizing DDs, there are also many myths and misconceptions. I would like to address some of those myths by responding to the ones most frequently heard. Please note that these opinions are mine and reflect my experiences with the photomanipulation community, but perhaps they will be informative nevertheless.
Myth 1: DDs should always be perfect.

Literature DD Round-up: January January Literature Daily Deviations
Hello Everyone!
Firstly, before we show off the roundup, can we give a HUGE thank you to the recent influx of suggestions! It really goes to show that the phrase “Many hands make light work” is so very true and we appreciate every suggestion that is made. Colours Vol. One:iconwildrune11: This skin was deeply inspired by the skins $marioluevanos creates. I like the ways he uses colour and line in his designs. I made and discarded three journal skins while I was trying to come up with a design for this series, and when I had the idea to create a simple but attractive skin like his, I started work on a fourth skin (not knowing yet if I would use it or not). The first thing I did was create a colour palette at colorschemedesigner.com - a simple but powerful colour palette creation tool I recently discovered. As I started creating my skin and applying the colours I had selected, I realised what I would call my feature series - "Colours". The word "colours" can mean many things, and some of these meanings are things I want to achieve in my features.
So, "Colours" will be a journal feature series run by me!

Day Of Silence - April 20, 2012 - Take Part!

Hello Everyone,

I along with thousands of other students will spend tomorrow silent in support of LGBTQ students in demonstration against the "...silencing effect of anti-LGBT bullying and harassment in schools."

I invite everyone to stand with me on this.

The Day of Silence's purpose is to bring attention to anti-LGBT name-calling, bullying and harassment and effective responses. The goal of the Day of Silence is to make schools safer for all students, regardless of sexual orientation and gender identity/expression. In a Harris Interactive study on bullying, students said two of the top three reasons students are harassed in school are actual or perceived sexual orientation and gender expression. Additionally, nearly 9 out of 10 LGBT students experience harassment at school. Students across the country participate in the Day of Silence to bring attention to this problem, let students who experience such bullying know that they are not alone and ask schools to take action to address the problem.
