Top-10 of 2012This is something I do every year, look back on my gallery and pick my top fave deviations. It's nice to see how far you've come. Though, this year, looking back was rather sad. This was a bad year for me. I ended up getting a very serious art block that lasted 6 months. In June and September, there was only 1 art-piece uploaded. Some months, it was only my Emoticon Journal. 2012 was a hard year for me.
Nevertheless, there WAS art, and the lack of art helped me narrow down my top-10 (though it was still a difficult choice):

This pic really has a lot of sentimental value to me, as it was a depiction of my happiness for receiving a Daily Deviation on my writing. It also showcases something that I found a lot of joy in doing this year--micro-pixelling. I had a ton of fun trying to create recognizable pictures in very tiny pixels. I think I got rather good at it, too.

The baby is here!This is `Ravenswd posting for Mirz. We just wanted everyone to know that our baby was born on Saturday, August 25. A healthy baby boy, his name is Michael Hugo. He weighed 7 1/2 pounds and was 19 1/2 inches. Mom & baby are doing fine. The baby was delivered by C-section so Mom is still in the hospital, but she and the baby will be coming home soon.

I got a 20x20 lustre print of

I have been looking at this print for almost a year dreaming of owning it and wondering when I would be able to buy it. Today I was walking up my long driveway to get the mail, not expecting much. I approach the mailbox and see a strange tube sticking out. I take the rubber band off the mailbox holding the tube in and slide it out; when I see the dA sticker on it, I knew immediately what it was. I sprint down the driveway(or at least as fast as I could with oversized slippers on) and take it inside and I was right!

Thank you mysterious gifter! And I hope I find out who you are so I can spam you with that yous.c:
Also I hope to be more active coming late July.

I just wanted to give a little shout out so maybe I can find out who gave the print to me.

Length of Works
A question often asked is what number of words constitutes a novel. While NaNoWriMo states a novel at 50,000, the industry has some different guidelines. Note that different people and publishers have different thoughts on this, but in general, here is how it goes...

500-1,000 words - Flash story

1,000-10,000 words - Short story

10,000-40,000 word - Novella
Technically, anything over 40,000 words constitutes a "novel." However, many publishers will not put-out a book under 60,000 words Though, more are inclined to publish a 50,000 word book than a 40,000 word one. As a result...

New Look, New Beginnings...What's New!
As you can see, we have a new journal skin and avatar for the group. We wanted something to convey the laid-back feeling of the group. A big thanks to `Ravenswd for coding the skin and a thank to ~Xanderpus for our previous avatar.
We have lots planned in the group, including a re-launch of our Word Wrangle, as well as a launch of our prompt challenges. So, keep a look-out.

Personal Preferences
All community volunteers have different taste, as a result we all look for different things when featuring Daily Deviations. Here's a more detailed insight into what I look for when I choose to feature something as a DD.
I apologize for it being so long. Unlike some galleries, the dA Related gallery offers quite a diverse range of mediums/categories - so I have to explain each one.

Why?So I wasn't so active lately because I was sick...food poising. Anyways yesterday was the BEST DAY EVAR! My friends through me a surprise farewell party (because I am moving to Canada soon) and it was awesome! It was by the beach so we even got to swim...I also almost got in a fight with some strangers. Anyway so why...YES WHY? Why did you create your EC or OC like that? What does it represent? What does it mean? So yeah I'm gonna interview emoticonists and well interview them?! So comment me and I will send you ze questions or we can do it over Skype if you like!

The main idea is to have a way to show off DD's you suggested, just as a collection.

The only difference is every photo that loads, would also load a why it was featured.

I know these aren't really centered, I got too lazy to name layers and at the end I didn't feel like playing with 20odd layers

I love this suggestion, but if had it set on 2 it could only show one if any DDs... I think that the lowest it should go is 3 months... But great suggestion!
