Cold Winter Sunrise

After a number of days of rather warm weather a cold spell and snow storm came through... I decided to wake up the next morning and go out for sunrise. Unfortunately I got up almost a half hour early and ended up sitting around nearly freezing my fingers off. But the end result was well worth it. Sunrise was beautiful!

It looks as though the ground is being invaded by the clouds, and it's shying away by slanting...

Hi there.

This is a really nice photo. The colors are simply brilliant, and I can really feel how cold it must have been standing out there taking this!

I just have a couple of comments. The photo isn't level, and it might be a little better if the ground was straight across instead of slightly slanted. Also, I'm not sure what the focus is in this photo. The trees and the grass both look just a little bit blurry.

Overall, a very pretty photograph. Nice work!

Glad you still have your fingers and that they didn't freeze off!

Getting up early is often well worth it! I think the colors in this sunrise are pretty nice, indeed looks more warm than it probably was. The contrast of the ground vs. the light sky could be a bit better I think, though.

Rule of thirds is well applied, but I think I would've liked the tree more to the left and the shed as well, because it's now so close to the edge and also gives a bit more of a main subject. I know the main subject probably would be the sunset, but it still feels a bit empty.

Looks like it turned out to be a beautiful day and I hope you'll enjoy your new lens! =)

Thanks so much Anoya :)

I really appreciate the critique and I completely agree with you! Next time I will try to remember to follow a rule... To make sure it is clear what my subject is.

Thanks so much for your help,

TC

This is very pretty! I like how you decided to capture a small amount of the orange and yellow in the sky; it seems to burn brighter amidst the blues and blacks of the rest of the photo. <3
